Live the experience of a lifetime.
Values Based Organization
Delta Tau Delta is a value driven organization, and for that reason we strive to base our daily decisions upon the mission and values of our Fraternity. Our members live by the principles of truth, courage, faith, power, integrity, accountability, and life-long commitment to improving ourselves and the community. Growing a fraternity around these values sets forth the expectations for how the fraternity will run and the behavior within the Fraternity. Bringing these values into our Brotherhood allows for personal and organizational accountability and overall excellence.
Academics
Delta Tau Delta consistently ranks among the top of all Fraternities with regards to academics. For the past 5 years, Delta Tau Delta has found itself either at the top or near the top in terms of GPA. Our current chapter GPA of 3.24 demonstrates that commitment to academic excellence.
Leadership Academy
The academy is a personal development process based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. This process is not designed to create better presidents or recruitment chairman, but to offer our undergraduates the opportunity to assess their personal skills, strengths and weaknesses; so that they may better prepare themselves for their future. Recently added to our leadership development opportunities is an experimental process that takes place in the Rocky Mountains, and another on the North Atlantic off the coast of Maine. The purpose of this expedition is to provide the basics of outdoor leadership including basic communication and leadership skills.
Who is a Delt?
Join the ranks of thousands of Delts. Over 150,000 men have been initiated into Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. These men are doctors, lawyers, teachers, athletes, musicians, senators, businessmen, fathers, grandfathers, mentors, advisers, etc. Becoming a Delt offers you an instant connection between these men and you, a connection that could result in some phenomenal life experiences and advice.
Not only are these men Delts, they also give back to their organization. Delta Tau Delta is the #1 Fraternity in terms of per member giving and has one of the largest Educational Foundations in the fraternity world. Alumni giving has endowed our leadership programming and is establishing the funds to keep us among the leaders in the fraternity world.
Note: You must complete the Online Registration and pay a $40 fee to IFC before we can officially process your bid and break your contract with residential life.
Can I practice my leadership potential within the Fraternity?
Yes, Delta Tau Delta is unique because we are a completely self-sustaining organization. Our day-to-day operations are managed entirely by undergraduate members of the Fraternity in cooperation with alumni who act as our advisory team. Each elected position has a committee of appointed men to carry out the business of the fraternity, similar to a major corporation. Every member is encouraged to seek an elected office or appointed position even in their freshmen year. This is an opportunity to quickly distinguish yourself as a leader in a position where alumni can recognize your potential and guide you to success. If leadership is your aspiration then Delta Tau Delta is the fraternity of choice.
Am I really just buying friends by joining the Fraternity?
Absolutely, and I have never been ashamed of it. There are many benefits of our Fraternity, but successful businesspersons say repeatedly that the most treasured part of their college career is the network of friends and associates that they established. Some people talk derogatorily about buying friends, but investing in friendships is the smartest money that I have ever spent. Joining the Fraternity is not about who can throw down the most cash, it is about a commitment that says I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. This is the attitude that builds life-long friendship.
Can I get adjusted to college and then join in the spring?
The short answer is yes, but there are several things to consider before making that decision. Although we sometimes accept late pledges during the academic year if space permits, we cannot guarantee your acceptance. Furthermore, it requires almost the same amount of time for us to administer our New Member Education Program to one person as it does for an entire group, so it quickly becomes less enticing to offer bids past the first couple of weeks in each semester. We want you to join when you feel comfortable, but keep in mind that getting adjusted to college is EXACTLY the purpose of our Fraternity. While many entry level courses are relatively easy, remember that the Fraternity gives you the resources and support to excel. You can choose to stand alone for the first semester if you wish but if you damage your GPA in the process, it may prevent you from being qualified to associate with Delta Tau Delta in the future. Lastly, there are huge benefits to joining during the summer so that you can begin to network with others who are pledging Delt and enjoy many of the social experiences that occur early in the semester. If you choose to wait, you might not have the large group with which to share experiences.
Can my friends join Delta Tau Delta also?
We absolutely encourage you to introduce us to your friends. While we must decide all bids on an individual basis, we do give priority to recommendations made by our friends. Because the men who we choose will eventually effect the future of our organization we take the bidding process seriously, searching for men who are actively involved in the community, have a sense of direction for their life, and demonstrate potential for success. In short, the fact that we have contacted you means that we feel you meet at least a portion of these criteria and if we are convinced that your friend has similar potential then we will give him equal consideration.
Is the Fraternity cliquish and secluded? Will I lose my non-fraternity friends if I join?
No, Delta Tau Delta is a value-based organization that appreciates the friendship of men and women outside the Fraternity: joining the Fraternity means that you will keep your current friends while having the opportunity to establish new friendships as well. While there are some activities that are members only, our main purpose is to enhance the social experiences of our brothers. We understand that much of your future success hinges upon the solidarity of the network that you establish during your college career. Therefore, we continually host events with fraternities, sororities, and other campus organizations in order to give all Delts the opportunity to make as many friends as possible regardless of affiliation. Cliquishness and seclusion are contradictory to the development of the social maturity for which we strive.
Welcome Letter from the Director.
As Recruitment Director for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, I would like to congratulate you on selecting Oklahoma State University for your higher education. The hard work and commitment that you have invested over the past few years is finally paying off. However, you are now embarking upon a new page in life and the choices that you make during your first year in college will set the stage for your future success. When I began college, I was unsure whether to join a fraternity because of all the crazy stories that I heard. Somewhere along the way, I realized that the people discouraging me from associating with a fraternity had no first-hand knowledge, and yet almost every fraternity guy that I talked to felt that it was the best decision he had ever made. After rushing with seven fraternities, I decided that Delta Tau Delta was right for me. With all of the friendships and contacts that I have made through the Fraternity, I cannot express to you enough about how Delta Tau Delta has influenced my life for good. It is ranked a Top Fraternity for Future CEOs by Forbes Magazine, and the professional leadership programming of Delta Tau Delta is phenomenal. Much of the apprehension toward joining fraternities seems to focus around fear of the unknown. As a Delt, I believe that you deserve to know exactly whom you are joining before you make the commitment. This website offers answers to many common questions, but feel free to ask us about our experiences and we will be glad to share them with you. Finally, I want to welcome you to our home at the Delt shelter. We have the premiere house on campus, where freshmen are paired with only one roommate in suite style rooms with the convenience of an attached bath, and upperclassmen enjoy the luxury of private rooms. I am happy to schedule a private tour of our home and even provide transportation if needed, so good luck with your plans for college and be sure to pledge Delt.
Sincerely,
Nathan Hammond
Director of Recruitment
Being in a fraternity sounds like it takes a lot of time.
Actually because the Delts support one another, the time contribution of each individual is quite small. However, as with any worthwhile association, you will need to share some responsibility in order to earn the respect of your fellow brothers. For the most part, this is simply doing what you already do but doing it as a team. The idea of brotherhood is to be able to accomplish greater things together than any man could fulfill on his own. Anyone who suggests a concern for time commitment lacks knowledge about our organization, because being a member of Delta Tau Delta gives you greater return on your time investment than any type of alternative living community. Time management is paramount to the undergraduate Delt experience. As a Delt you will learn how to effectively multitask and network with others, which will give you a competitive edge later in your career. While some students seem to have a good handle on priorities, those who struggle in this area find our Life Skills programming to be a great contribution to their success. Regardless of how much time you choose to contribute, I can assure you that no one will ever expect your commitment to interfere with academic success.
Does it cost a lot of money to be in the Fraternity?
Absolutely not, Delta Tau Delta is a self-supporting organization that provides many amenities as part of your monthly house bill; the only additional cost is a small one-time fee paid to the National Fraternity to cover registration and training programs. The total cost of living in our house is comparable to other university housing options, but we offer a lot more for the price. For instance, our meals are prepared Mon-Fri by our chef, saving us hundreds of dollars per semester. By including expenses such as meal plans and parking fees, the cost of membership in Delta Tau Delta Fraternity costs approximately the same as, and in some cases less than, the dorms and other campus housing - yet the benefits are far greater. Of course, like any college student you are free to spend a lot or a little, but that is your decision. We do encourage our members to take part in the fundraising efforts of other organizations, but will never require participation in activities that require additional expense. If the lifelong benefits of Greek Life are appealing but cost has you discouraged, I urge you to reconsider your options. If you have questions or would like to know more about Delta Tau Delta feel free to contact our Recruitment Director - Nate Hammond, or the Rush Chairman for your area. Good luck, rush Delt, and I’ll see you soon.
How can joining a fraternity benefit me beyond college?
Many career professionals will tell you that the most important thing that you can do during college is to network. Networking with others allows you to complete your coursework with greater efficiency and provides you with contacts so that once you are out of school you can find employment, purchase a house, and locate business partners and customers. In an age when there are more college graduates than ever before, it is essential to distinguish yourself to be more valuable in the job market. Delta Tau Delta Fraternity provides this opportunity through the encouragement of strong peer relations, active involvement in the community, and a support network of successful alumni who are willing to assist undergraduates when needed. If you have questions about the Delts or about becoming a Man of Distinction feel free to contact our Recruitment Director - Nate Hammond, or the appropriate Rush Chairman for your area. Good luck, and rush Delt.
